How (and why) to sell your products here on RSA Made!

If there’s one thing you can say about South Africans, it’s that we’re there for each other when the going gets tough. Now, more than ever, we’ve realised how important it is to back local producers, manufacturers, suppliers, and the employees who depend on them for their livelihoods.

As the official online store for the ‘Proudly South African’ brand, RSA Made is delighted to play our part in making supporting South African businesses easier than ever before – and right from the comfort of home!

If you’re one of those businesses, we’d love to welcome you to the RSA Made family! Read on to find out what we do, how it works, and why you should join us. Let’s start where it matters…

What’s in it for you:

We handle the technical stuff:

We get it – all you want to do is to sell your products online. You don’t want to have to redesign your website, learn how to code, or fork out a fortune to develop an ecommerce site of your own. And why should you?

We provide the platform, the advertising, and the audience – you provide the awesome SA-made goods. Simple as that.

We give you access to our massive customer base, and the use of a platform that shoppers from SA and around the world can browse from their phones, computers, or whatever device they happen to be on.

What’s in it for us:

Aside from the chance to promote local goods and boost the economy, RSA Made does take a commission on any sales you make to help us cover our expenses.

To be clear, using our platform is free – you won’t be charged a cent until you’ve got money in your pocket from a sale made on our platform. It’s a win-win scenario.

How does it work?

In order to list your products on RSA Made, you need to be a registered member of the Proudly South African initiative. (More details on how to go about that later). This membership allows your brand to make use of the coveted Proudly South African logo, which is a recognised endorsement of local content and quality.

From here on, you’ll receive a spot for your goods in our showroom/warehouse, free of charge. When you make a sale, we charge10% commission on B2B (business to business) sales, and 25% commission on B2C (business to customer) transactions.

Remember, you need to be a ‘Proudly South African’ member to list on RSA Made.

Which brands qualify? How do I become a Proudly SA company?

In order to become a Proudly SA member company, you’ll need to meet the following compliance criteria:

  1. Local content:

In the case of products, at least 50% of the final cost of production must have been incurred in South Africa, or if raw materials have been imported, substantial transformation must have taken place in our country.

For service companies, we consider your local procurement habits.

  1. Proof of quality:

By way of certification from an accredited verification body or industry association; and finally,

  1. Adherence:

Your product / service must comply with the country’s labour and environmental legislation.

Remember that Proudly SA membership doesn’t just earn you a spot on the RSA Made platform, but also makes you part of the growing ‘local is lekker’ movement, and earns you significant brownie points with the SA public!
